Octopus

(Unless otherwise specified, "Consumption Voucher Scheme" or "the Scheme" on this page refers to the 2023 Consumption Voucher Scheme 2nd Instalment.)

People may choose to receive consumption vouchers under the Scheme through Octopus (including Octopus on Mobile). However, First generation on-loan Octopus (those without brackets for the last digit of the card number) and temporary Octopus (e.g. Temporary Octopus with "Persons with Disabilities Status" or Temporary Student Octopus) are not accepted for receiving consumption vouchers under the Scheme. Octopus are available for loan or purchase through the following means:

Physical Octopus

  • Get a Standard On-Loan Octopus or apply for a Personalised Octopus at MTR Customer Service Centres and designated customer service centres of major public transport operators;
  • Buy an Octopus Ornament and Limited Edition Octopus from designated retail outlets;
  • Apply to a bank for a Bank Issued Octopus; or
  • Buy Licensed Octopus products from designated outlets and sales channels of Octopus licensees

Octopus on Mobile

People may download the Octopus App from a mobile App distribution platform for installation, and then:

  • Add a new Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch or transfer a physical Octopus to iPhone or Apple Watch via the "Octopus" App, Apple "Wallet" App or Apple "Watch" App;
  • Get a new Huawei Pay Octopus or transfer a physical Octopus to Huawei Pay Octopus via the "Octopus" App or the Huawei "Wallet" App; or
  • Get a new Samsung Pay Octopus or transfer a physical Octopus to Samsung Pay Octopus via the "Samsung Pay" App

How to find the related number of Octopus (i.e. Octopus number)

Physical Octopus

  • Octopus: the number can be found at the corner on either side of the card
  • Octopus watch: the number can be found on the back of the watch
  • Octopus ornament: the number can be found on the back of the ornament

Octopus on Mobile

The Octopus number is shown on the Octopus on Mobile in the "Octopus" App.
